Klaus Volkmann is first flautist of an orchestra in the Southern Region of Brazil. He is also the inventor of a recumbent bicycle frame made of natural materials.

Klaus' inspiration to build a bamboo recumbent bike came from a friend at his workplace. He also knew about the capabilities of bamboo from a bamboo flute he received from his grandmother. Klaus continues to construct bamboo recumbent bicycles and teach young people in his community how to make them. He is also planning to teach people in developing countries how to build bikes from bamboo.
