Dai Hop Mangrove Forest is located along the seashore of Kien Thuy District, Haiphong City. The length of the forest is 13km, the width is 1.5km, in which 8km of length has been rehabilitated with the support of Japanese Red Cross, 5km has been remained. Panasonic Vietnam together with Vietnam Youth Union organized a program of planting trees in part of this remaining area.

In Eco Relay this year, Panasonic Vietnam Group in coordination with Ho Chi Minh Communist Central Youth Union have organized the "2010 Teenagers and Enviroment Festival" subject to "Many species - One Planet - One Future" on Jun, 5th - the International Environment Day. Panasonic Vietnam Group is aiming at improving the knowledge as well as awareness of the community, especially the young generation - future owners of the country, help them to understand more about environmental issues and call for the joint-activities from the community to protect the living environment. Furthermore, through the Eco Relay activity this time, PVGroup wish to make Panasonic members (who participated in the tree planting) more understanding about biodiversity of mangrove forest and its benifits to the local socio-economic development.

We have planted about 2600 trees, including: 800 Casuarina trees, 600 Sonneratia trees and 1200 Kandelia trees. About 1100 teenagers took part in this event. They took part in many activities of this event: planting trees, drawing environmental propaganda pictures, as well as joining in many interesting games such as: slowly cycling, tug of war, etc...

In this event, Panasonic Vietnam Group (PVG) also had a performance. We sang 2 songs about protecting environment.

At the end, 2600 trees have been planted. We hired 10 persons to look after the forest for 1 year after finishing planting. After 2 months, we will come back to check, and one year later, we will come back again to see the real achievements.

With local community, this forest will help people to raise their income, improve living environment and protect the seashore from storming-season. During that day, we also organised a fact-finding trip by boat for Panasonic members to visit a model of a mature mangrove forest near Thai Binh province. This acitivity helped us to gain the practical knowledge about mangrove forest.
